AnyTone AT-588Max 70W VHF Mobile Transceiver (2m, Airband RX)
Product description
High-power 2‑meter operation: The AT-588Max is intended for licensed amateur use across the 144–148 MHz band and can deliver up to 70 watts of RF output. Power can be stepped between high, medium and low settings to suit mobile installations, repeater access or a properly tuned fixed station antenna; actual coverage depends on terrain, antenna placement and local repeaters.
Five-stage TX/RX noise reduction: This model separates transmit and receive noise reduction so you can dial in up to five levels of suppression for steady vehicle or background noise while preserving natural voice quality. The independent settings let you balance clarity and tonal fidelity for noisy environments.
Airband AM receive: A dedicated AM airband receive mode lets you monitor supported aviation communications. This is receive-only and does not authorize transmission on aviation channels—confirm the accepted receive range for your regional version before relying on it.
Flexible channel and repeater control: Store and label frequently used simplex and repeater channels, set frequency offsets, and configure CTCSS/DCS, DTMF, 2‑Tone and 5‑Tone parameters. PC programming is supported via compatible software and an optional programming cable for faster setup and channel management.
Thermal management and display: A substantial heat sink and selectable cooling fan help the radio cope with extended high-power operation. The front panel LCD offers 32 brightness levels so you can optimize visibility for daytime driving or low-light conditions.
What's typically in the package: The transceiver ships with the hand microphone, mounting bracket and power lead; programming is supported via downloadable software, while a dedicated PC cable is optional (some units have been reported to include the cable). Always verify included items with your source if a cable or accessories are critical to your setup.

Programming cable included after all
Contrary to the listing, my radio came with the programming cable, so I didn't need to buy one separately—saved some money there.

Top-notch build and features
Excellent build quality. Produces 70W, supports hundreds of channels and there's downloadable programming software available.

Worked well once programmed
The radio performs as expected. Manual setup is a bit tricky, but the PC software simplifies programming after a short learning curve. Mine arrived with a programming/data cable even though the listing suggested it wasn't included. I haven't confirmed full 70W into a 1:1 antenna yet, but it seems solid.

Good single-band performance
Nice single-band unit. I ended up returning it because it matched the performance of my other AnyTone and I didn't need the extra power. The 70W output is impressive but unnecessary for my setup.

Frustrating software availability
Couldn't find the programming software on the vendor site and had to email support. Hand programming is tedious; I'll wait for a reply but may return it if software isn't provided. It did arrive with a cable, though.
