3-Pack RG8X 3 ft PL259 Coax Jumpers — Flexible Tinned Copper
Product description
Low signal loss — The RG8X braid is constructed from 128×0.12 mm aluminum wire to keep RF loss to a minimum. A 3 ft length shows about 0.44 dB loss at 50 MHz, with VSWR typically at or below 1.12. The cable is specified for use across frequencies up to 300 MHz, making it suitable for most CB, VHF and general ham radio tasks.
Ultra-flexible for tight spaces — These jumpers use a high-strand-count center conductor so the assembly can flex sharply without cracking the core. They are intended for installations where space is limited: behind instrument panels, inside truck cabs, between transceivers and accessories, or in compact home shacks where routing around corners is required.
Materials and construction — Each 3 ft lead features a stranded tinned copper center conductor, foam polyethylene dielectric, braided shielding and a PVC outer jacket. PL259 terminations are fitted on each end. The combination of materials delivers a balance of flexibility, shielding and durability appropriate for indoor and mobile radio connections.
Extended heat-shrink for secure joints — The cables come with 6 cm of heat-shrink tubing at the connector end, longer than many alternatives. This extra length helps seal the connector area, reduces the chance of the connector separating under repeated bending or pulling, and extends the service life of the assembly.
Applications — These RG8X PL259 jumpers pair with common CB and amateur gear such as Uniden/Cobra and Yaesu/Icom radios, and are compatible with antenna analyzers and SWR meters. They’re useful for truckers, portable ops like Parks on the Air, home shack patching, and any situation that needs short, dependable coax runs.
Pros
- Measured low loss at VHF frequencies
- Very flexible for tight routing
- Long 6 cm heat-shrink for secure connector sealing
Cons
- Not intended as a heavy-duty outdoor feeder
- Not the highest-spec option for remote repeater links
- Fixed 3 ft length may be short for some installs
VerdictA practical 3-pack of short RG8X PL259 patch leads that balance low loss and flexibility for typical radio work. The measured 0.44 dB loss at 50 MHz and VSWR ≤ 1.12 make them suitable for VHF applications up to 300 MHz, while the high-strand conductor lets you route cables into cramped spaces without stressing the core. Build materials are conventional but robust for indoor and mobile use, and the

Adequate for most ham shack uses
I use these as short jumpers between transmitters and SWR meters or between transmitters and amps. They work well for everyday shack tasks and are priced reasonably. For a fixed remote repeater feed I'd opt for a heavier cable, but for local patching they’re fine.
