Mundial Adjustable Buttonhole Scissors — 4.5" Stainless Steel
Product description
What you get: one pair of adjustable buttonhole scissors (model 252), delivered as a single tool ready for use.
Construction and size: These scissors are stamped from stainless steel and manufactured in Pakistan. The overall length measures 4.5 inches and the tool weighs about 0.2 pounds, making it easy to handle and store in a sewing kit.
Adjustment and use: A small set screw lets you limit the travel of the blades so each buttonhole is cut to the same length. Use them for dressmaking, tailoring, quilting, embroidery and general fabric craft work. Set the screw to the desired stop length, position the blade, and make a controlled slit for a neat buttonhole opening.
Care and handling: Rinse and dry after exposure to moisture and keep the set screw snug. Because the blades are stainless steel, they resist corrosion but benefit from occasional sharpening or professional honing if you want to restore peak edge performance.
Pros
- Adjustable screw for consistent cut length
- Compact and lightweight for easy maneuvering
- Stainless-steel construction resists corrosion
Cons
- Blades may arrive less sharp than premium shears
- Small size not ideal for large-scale production
- Set screw can loosen if not checked regularly
VerdictA compact, dependable tool for creating neat, repeatable buttonholes. The screw adjustment makes it simple to set the exact length you need, and the stainless-steel blades are built for recurring use. Best for hobbyists and professional sewers who want a small, lightweight pair of scissors dedicated to buttonholes. Some users may find the blades less razor-sharp than expected, so check cutting per

Traditional feel, built to last
My wife had a vintage pair missing its stop screw, so I replaced them with these. They have an old-fashioned design she appreciates and seem durable enough to keep for many years.

Won't work for me
The blade tips collide by the rectangular section next to the stop, so they won't produce a clean cut. I've used buttonhole shears for decades and these are not usable for my technique.

I rarely write reviews, but these work so I gave five stars. Simple and functional—what else do you need?

Does the job but not razor sharp
They match the product description, though the blades weren't as keen as I'd hoped. I sometimes struggle to start the cut cleanly on thicker fabric.

Very useful for handmade garments
Buttonholes in bespoke clothes are tricky, but the stop screw lets me set exact lengths so I avoid trimming through end stitches. Cuts are accurate when set correctly.
