4-Hole Double-Deck Roll-Away Chicken Nesting Box — Metal
Product description
Space-saving double-deck layout: This nesting unit provides four laying compartments arranged as two stacked tiers of two nests each. The compact footprint lets you add nesting capacity without using much floor space — suitable for small to medium backyard flocks.
Roll-away protection and training aid: Each nest has a slightly inclined tray so eggs roll forward into a covered collection channel, helping to keep them cleaner and reducing pecking or breakage. A dummy (plastic) egg is included to promote immediate acceptance by hens.
Galvanized steel construction: Built of rust-resistant galvanized metal with powder-coated surfaces in parts, the assembly resists outdoor exposure and everyday wear. The metal frame supports a variety of breeds while remaining easy to wipe down.
Removable sliding trays: Every level includes a pull-out metal tray that slides out smoothly for quick bedding refreshes or rinsing. Trays simplify cleaning without heavy disassembly and let you remove droppings and soiled nesting material with minimal fuss.
Ventilated, sloped top: Vent holes in the rear panels and trays encourage steady airflow to keep the nests comfortable. The sloped roof discourages birds from perching on top, helping to keep the unit tidier while providing a classic, functional appearance.
Pros
- Keeps eggs cleaner with covered roll-away channels
- Durable galvanized steel; easy to wipe and maintain
- Double-deck layout increases nests without using floor space
Cons
- Requires secure wall mounting; no full solid back panel
- Some hens need training to use the roll-away system
- Tighter compartments may be less ideal for very large breeds
VerdictA practical option for backyard flocks that need cleaner eggs and compact nesting capacity. The roll-away trays and covered receptacles keep eggs cleaner and reduce pecking. Durable galvanized steel and removable pull-out pans make maintenance straightforward. Plan on wall-mounting and a short training period for hens; some very large breeds may prefer a roomier nest.

Solved our egg-pecking problem fast
Simple to assemble. After a month of egg-pecking and dirty eggs, these roll-away nests made a big difference in a single day — lots of clean eggs. Very sturdy and well designed. Best investment for our flock.

Solid build but not loved by our flock
Construction is good and it seems durable, but our chickens mostly avoided using it. Might require more training or relocation to encourage use.

Training required but effective
Used fake eggs and moved it from the floor to a wall mount; within weeks more than half the hens adopted it. Lifting the perches to collect eggs is convenient, and eggs stay cleaner than floor-laid ones. Sturdy and satisfactory.

Stops sleeping in nests and keeps eggs clean
Younger birds were sleeping in old boxes and making a mess. These units discourage roosting on top, the layers use them, and clean eggs roll into the collection tray. Two people to assemble and hang; no broken eggs since.

Well-built and easy to put together
Noticed an egg eater and went looking for a solution. This kit arrived quickly and took about an hour to assemble. Powder-coated and galvanized metal, quality hardware, clear instructions, and extra fasteners in case you lose one.

High quality and roomy enough for big hens
Arrived very well packaged; parts were individually wrapped to prevent scratches. Powder-coated finish and clear instructions made assembly easy. Our Buff Orpingtons and Australorps fit comfortably and adapted quickly.

Good materials and easy cleaning, with caveats
Solid metal construction and plastic trays are durable and hose-cleanable. Assembly is straightforward. Note: it has no full back panel, so mount to plywood or a wall; it’s meant to be hung about 20" off the floor.
