SmartGuard Elite Front-Tooth Night Guard — 2 Guards + Travel Case
Product description
Built to endure: This guard is backed by a 3-year no-grind-through guarantee and uses a tough, BPA-free thermoplastic meant to resist wear. Its construction intentionally keeps the rear teeth from meeting to stop destructive grinding.
Dentist-developed relief: Created by Dr. Spainhower specifically to address nighttime clenching and bruxism symptoms. The front-tooth design reduces pressure on molars while offering a less obtrusive profile than full-arch splints.
What you get: Each kit includes two front-tooth guards and one compact storage/travel case so you have a spare and a hygienic place to store them between uses.
Fit and materials: The guards are made from a moldable medical-style thermoplastic that conforms to most arch shapes and sizes. The boil-and-bite process lets you create a custom fit at home; repeat molding is possible if you want to fine-tune comfort and retention.
How to use: Heat in hot water briefly, bite to shape, then trim or remold if needed. The guard seats over the front teeth to keep back teeth separated during sleep, helping to reduce jaw pain, tooth wear, and sensitivity while saving the cost of custom dental appliances.

Too bulky for me — jaw ache after short use
After about 45 minutes my jaw already hurt. I can’t wear top and bottom at once, so while my top teeth may be protected my bottom jaw still feels clenched. It seems counterproductive for my case.

Blocks tongue placement, may affect breathing
The bulkiness prevents me from placing my tongue against the roof of my mouth, which makes it sit too far back and feels like it could obstruct airflow. I do like that it targets only the front teeth, though.

Stopped my grinding and jaw pain
I rarely leave reviews but this guard was a game changer. My previous aligner seemed to increase clenching and sensitivity. This guard keeps my back teeth apart while I sleep; jaw pain and sensitivity went away. So far it’s been very effective for me.

Slimmer than full guards — finally comfortable
If full-coverage mouthpieces make you gag, this slimmer front-only guard is a great option. It fits tightly and is small enough to get used to within a few nights. I tried other styles and couldn’t keep them in overnight; this one stayed put. After a couple months I hardly notice it when I wake up. Worth trying if bulky guards bothered you.

Works but is quite thick
It prevents the back teeth from touching and stops grinding, but the thickness makes it uncomfortable. If it were thinner while keeping the same function it would be nearly perfect.

Surpassed a much pricier custom guard for me
I had an expensive dentist-made guard and actually prefer this one. Instructions are clear and the fit holds well; it’s comfy even first night. It takes time to adjust if you’re unused to front-only styles, but it greatly reduced my jaw pain.

Good substitute for a dentist-made version
I've used this style before from a dentist and knew what to expect. The kit arrived quickly and the fitting process worked well after a second remold to tighten it. It’s comfortable and secures tightly when done right.

Effective after a couple of moldings
This stopped my nighttime clenching pain once I got the fit right. I had loosened molars from pressure and previous guards were too hard. These front-only guards prevented my back teeth from contacting. The first mold felt loose, so I reheated and pressed more firmly twice to get a snug fit. Now it stays put and is comfortable to wear.

Close to ideal but needs more stability
I like the concept and find it comfortable overall, but the bottom area feels unstable and shifts on me. I’d prefer a design that anchors the lower teeth better for consistent positioning.

Large in the mouth despite easy molding
Molding was straightforward; I messed up the first one but the second fit well. Still, it’s very big in my mouth. I’m petite and found it intrusive and jaw‑straining the first night. By night three it was more tolerable. It does reduce pain, but the size and a rough spot that rubs my tongue are annoying.

Excellent for heavy clenchers
I’ve tried retainers, dentist guards, and OTC options. This is the best at stopping clenching-related migraines. It’s bulkier in front but prevents back teeth contact and molds easily. I clean it with a brush or overnight denture cleaner and it’s lasted well.

Didn’t stay on — tossed it
The piece didn’t form a secure fit and kept slipping off. I didn’t feel safe sleeping with it in case it came loose. I ended up discarding it.

Does the job after some patience
It took me a few tries to get the mold right, but once fitted it does what it's supposed to. Slightly tricky to shape initially, but effective.
