Jetboil HalfGen Basecamp Camping Cooking System — Portable Camping Stove
Product description
The HalfGen Basecamp is designed to serve as either a solo burner or part of a linked outdoor cooking setup. Use it by itself for single-burner cooking or connect it to other Jetboil Link-compatible stoves to build a multi-burner arrangement for larger groups.
Powered to 10,000 BTU, the HalfGen gets water boiling in just over three minutes under typical conditions and handles snow melt or rapid heating tasks with ease. Jetboil’s proprietary regulator system provides smooth, incremental heat adjustment from a light simmer all the way to full boil for more precise cooking.
The kit ships with a 9-inch ceramic-coated fry pan that provides nonstick performance for eggs, pancakes, burgers and similar dishes. It is also compatible with the 5-liter FluxPot (sold separately) if you need a larger pot option. The stove is regulated to maintain consistent output down to about 20°F (-6°C).
Built for basecamp and car-based adventures rather than ultralight backpacking, the HalfGen weighs approximately 3.5 pounds and packs into its storage case for transport and storage. The package is backed by a one-year limited warranty and is intended for users who want dependable, controllable cooking in the outdoors.

Fantastic for overlanding
Great product and easy to pack for overlanding and camping. It would be even better if a folding wind block were included.

Elegant and functional design
Beautiful engineering — both attractive and extremely functional. A satisfying blend of form and performance.

Stable platform with excellent flame control
A bit pricey, but it performs well. I added the extra burner for coffee and use my Jetboil pot with the nonstick pan. The flame adjustment is far better than my old Coleman and it sits steady on a table while packing down compactly for my small camper.

Outstanding low-heat control
I cook outdoors to keep smells out of the house and this stove’s turndown makes low simmering possible. My other two-burner won’t go that low, so this unit fills a gap and pairs well with my grill and smoker.

Best stove I’ve ever used — one minor worry
Incredible stove—light compared to my other kit and lets you cook real meals at camp. My only concern is the rigid gas pipe; it doesn’t always point where you need and feels fragile. Anyone know if there’s a hose accessory like Coleman offers?

A must-have for car camping
Great flame control and cooks like my kitchen stove. I prefer a refillable growler for fuel to reduce waste, but the green cans work too. Folds away neatly in its case and you can link other Jetboil stoves to it. Worth the investment.

High quality with small footprint
Bought for a pop-up camper where a two-burner wouldn’t fit. Igniter is excellent but a little awkward to access at first. Wide temperature range from low simmer to fast boil. Pan arrived with a factory scratch, my only complaint. Good bag, useful wind deflector, and great function for its size—would buy again.

Regulator threading feels low-quality
The stove itself works fine, but the regulator thread seems poorly machined and is hard to screw onto the gas canister. The threads look too shallow and the material feels too thin compared with other fittings.

Perfect for car camping
Boils water fast and the control knob offers excellent heat regulation. Piezo ignition is reliable, pan cleans easily and the pour lip helps with drip-free coffee. Compact and durable—used daily for two months without issue. I bought the double for big groups, but this single works great for one or two. I keep a simple wind shield in the case to stiffen it. Always check and tighten the propane connection and remove the canister after use.

Outperformed my kitchen range
When we ran out of home gas I used this for a whole weekend—meals were easy and it outperformed other portable stoves I’ve tried. Very well made and reliable.

Too bulky for long hikes, ideal as a backup cooker
Bought for a hurricane kit but already using it more—very solid build. The 9" nonstick pan cooks breakfast for two easily and I added the optional Dutch oven for soups and pasta. Runs on 1 lb propane canisters available at most stores. The whole kit fits neatly in a nylon case; a larger bag holds the Dutch oven too. Not for weight-conscious backpacking, but great as an extra burner for holiday meals or buffet-style serving.
