Stabilizes and improves appearance
I left out the bottom tier of a three-tier tree and the trunk was unstable. Putting the collar around the base corrected the sag and helped the tree stand straight.

Good price and the picture looks nice. It fastens with pins rather than screws and comes apart for storage. A tad big for my very skinny tree so I removed one panel; assembly was manageable unless you have limited hand strength.
